Nature’s Sanctuary
The building was designed based on the concept of “fusion with nature” in order to harmonize the architecture with the landscape of the forest, which has a variety of faces from season to season and is attractive for its rich nature. After surveying each of the trees, including old trees over 100 years old, the founder designed and built the building with the image of a “hotel nestled in the forest” that would coexist with its predecessors (the trees of the forest) so that the building would not be taller than these trees. Since the shape of the gently sloping terrain was also utilized as it is, the layout of the hotel was designed to blend in with nature, with several steps inside the building, bathrooms overlooking the forest, and wide window frames. The hotel is an “auberge in the forest,” quietly nestled on a 10,000 tsubo site in the “Wadano Forest,” close to the Hakuba Happo One ski resort, a sacred site for skiing in Japan and the site of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Birds chirping, leaves rustling in the breeze, the murmuring of the river, the sound of falling snow…the sounds of nature in each season provide background music as you enjoy the “Nature’s Sanctuary” with its timeless architectural masterpieces built to blend into the beautiful forest. s Sanctuary, with the sounds of nature playing in the background.
